Do Yoga Like a Retiree
Instructor: Jinjer

Whether you are retired or not, maybe mid-afternoon on Thursdays just works better for you. This class is fun as well as mindful and beneficial.

Wear clothes that are easy to move in and if you have a mat, please bring it. We use our muscles in ways that release tension: both through stretches and in poses that build strength.

I take each person's physical challenges into consideration and modify poses when necessary. We are all strong in some areas, weak in others; flexible in certain joints and stiff in others. We tend to judge ourselves by our weaknesses but yoga gives us an opportunity to celebrate our strength and flexibility. It also provides us with a chance to gently and lovingly strengthen our bodies (minds and spirits) where they are weak and encourage them to flexibility where they are tight.

The last few minutes of class are devoted to meditation, so our bodies can fully integrate the benefits of the class just past. I look forward to meeting you.

Class meets in-person on Thursdays from 2pm-3:30pm

Monthly cost (paid in advance) $80 per five-week moth. $60 for four-week month. Drop-ins $20

This is a style of yoga that virtually every Body can do.

More Vigorous or CONTINUING YOGA

Ashtanga Primary Series Led Class
Instructor: Rosemary

In this class, the student learns a set Vinyasa-style asana (yoga postures) sequence designed to condition the body and train the mind for greater concentration and clarity. A vigorous practice, there's a beginning(Surya Namaskar), a middle (a progression of standing and seated postures) and an end (backbending, followed by closing postures and rest, to integrate). Traditionally taught to a student gradually in a self-directed practice setting, this class is the "full flow" of the Primary Series sequence- with the use of Tristhana, or the three pillars of practice: Breathing, Posture and Gazing Point. Breaths are counted, postures are named and soft inward focus othe the eyes pull everything together for a moving meditation. Dance to the music of the breath, find your own practice Rhythm.

Remember: "BYO": Yoga mat, any props you may use regularly and a hand/dish towel makes a good strap/bind-helper as well as keeping any sweat at bay. Also BYO- your sweet self! A clean well rested body with clothing you can move in and a good attitude.

Adjustments! This is entirely up to you. I always ask first and frequently, as anyone's boundaries and circumstances may change from class to class.

Class meets in-person on Tuesdays from 6:00pm-7:30pm. Cost: $16 drop-in, $65/5 or $110/9 classes. For more info: https://midtownmoonashtangi.com
