At Nokomis Yoga in South Minneapolis, we offer yoga classes for every body

Whether you are stiff and inflexible, or strong and fit, we have a class for you. We are beginner friendly and offer many great classes for beginners as well as for seasoned practictioners.

We are located on the shores of Lake Nokomis in a small, sunshine-filled studio with soft wood floors, and stained-glass windows. We carry many types of yoga props including mats, blocks and blankets for you to use during class.

Our teachers are dedicated to giving you personal attention. Our class sizes are small and we encourage you to come to class and talk to us; we are friendly and helpful. If you want to practice yoga in a relaxed, open atmosphere, you are in the right place. If you have never done yoga before, you are in the right place. Please come in and find out what we can do for you.

How to start? Just drop in to any class at your convenience for the $15.00 drop-in rate. No need to register. Give it a try today! Questions? CLASS UPDATES

Friday Night Happy Hour

Happy Hour Yoga Sampler Plate: Delicious! Class meets from 6:00-7:00pm (note time change). This class will be taught by a different instructor each time. Styles of yoga will vary. Only $10.00 suggested donation. Drop-ins only.

This Friday, May 18th enjoy an hour long yoga basics class with Holly. Whether this is your first class or you've been practicing for years, you will find this class can meet your needs. Discover the strength in standing poses, wind down with some luxurious twists, and end with the benefits of final relaxation.

New Vinyasa Class with Sarah Kalweit on Thursday Mornings from 9-10am

This class begins with a free class on Thursday, June 7th at 9am. Vinyasa yoga is a "breath-synchronized" practice of traditional postures linked together mindfully in a flowing fashion. Transitions between postures are emphasized as the foundation to cultivate balance, flexibility, strength and even endurance. Sun Salutations, with their movement to breath pattern are weaved into the Vinyasa practice. This class is very welcoming to all levels as modifications are always offered.

Yoga Bonding with Baby is Back by Popular Demand!

Sarah Kalweit will be leading this popluar class for moms and babies beginning on Sunday, June 10th from 3-4pm. Come, byob (bring your own baby) and try it out on June 10th for free. The class will meet monthly. For more information, go to our kids Yoga page.

New Satsang (Group Meditation)

Sunday evenings from 6:30-8:00pm
$10 suggested donation.

Satsang is a Sanskrit word that means "in the community with seekers of the truth". Sunday night Satsangs will include the rich teachings of Svaroopa Vidya Meditation, a tantric meditative system that can help you get in touch with your true self. Come and meditate on Sunday nights to calm your mind before the week ahead. Niranjan Matanich leads this powerful and blissful group. Drop in and see what transpires. All are welcome!

Yoga Kids Camp
Camp YogArt for Kids (ages 6-10)
July 9, 10, 11 (M, T, W) from 1:30-4pm

We will begin each afternoon with a global theme (compassion, gratitude, contentment). Your child’s spirit will be honored through creative movement, imagery, music, indoor/outdoor art making and appreciating, and a chance to express their own unique characteristics. We will see how making a practice of caring for ourselves and each other promotes peace for all!
